The Fallas in Valencia is an ancient tradition, which are celebrated in honor of San José since the late XIX century.

San José is the patron of the carpenters, which is a very popular profession in these ages.

The day before San José, the carpenters from Valencia make bonfires, where they burned the old furniture, chips, etc. The carpenters also burned theirs «parots», which were wood structures, where the lamps hung. Spring was already here and they wouldn’t need them because the days were longer.

Later the people give human form to the «parots». So they were the origin of the Fallas in Valencia.

In the same way, they have «La Mascletá» is like a powder concert with different rhythms, which ends with the big rumble of thousand of «masclets» at the same time.
