Beer yoga is the new fashionable sport, would you practice it? | Beer Spa Spain

Beer yoga is a new version of yoga, which you can practice, while you drink beer. It sounds funny, doesn’t it? If you are a yoga fan, as well as a beer lover, it can became your favorite sports. Would you like to practice it?

What is beer yoga?

In Nevada in Usa celebrates every year the «Burning Man» festival, where hippies look for the illumination with the influence of alcohol. This was the inspiration for Emily and Jhula to create this original sport discipline in Berlin Germany in 2015.

Little by little it has more and more fans in Europe and Australia. However from India, which is the cradle of traditional yoga, still don’t approve it.

Nowadays there are more versions of yoga, such as warm yoga and air yoga. So it isn’t the only version of this ancient sport. Why not beer yoga?

Bier Yoga, as the name implies, combines beer and yoga. It consists of practicing yoga, while you drink beer. So it is funny, but it isn’t a joke, because they join the philosophy of traditional yoga and mindfulness with the pleasure of drinking beer.

In this way, you will be able to get the highest level of consciousness and Most of these exercises consists in maintaining balance.

Both yoga and beer have a lot of benefits and properties for your health, why we can’t combine them. Let’s know the virtues of each:

Science has shown that yoga provides important benefits to your health. There are many scientific research, which show it. For example The doctor Timothy McCall has found more than 70 health problems, which get better because of Yoga.

So this ancient sport discipline works like a medicine for our body and soul. Some of the benefits, which you can obtain are:

  • Reduce the pain, such as the back or joint pain. The yoga stretches can be a great therapy for this disease.
  • Yoga improves your energy and motivation. In the same way, it can help people, who suffer anxiety and depression.
  • Thanks to meditation and mindfulness exercises of Yoga, you will be able to concentrate easier.
  • Yoga helps you to burn calories, as well as to keeps your weight.
  • Yoga exercises stretch and relax muscles and it causes a better rest and stress reduction. In this way, it can improve the sleeping disorders.
  • You can improve your balance and flexibility.

Benefits of drinking beer

Beer is a drink, which is made with natural ingredients. They have many properties and benefits for your body. However, it has to be taken with moderation because as everybody knows, alcohol misuse is not healthy.

For this reason, when you have beer with moderation,  you can benefit of all its properties. For example:

  • Beer is a fantastic drink to get re-hydrate because it has about 90% of water and minerals. So don’t hesitate to take a refreshing beer after practicing sport.
  • For the same reason, beer is a great diuretic and can prevent kidney stones and other kidney diseases. As well as it can also balance your blood pressure.
  • Thanks to the acid folic, which beer has, it is recommended to pregnant (in this case always alcohol free!). Acid folic is very important to develop of the fetus nervous system and it is difficult to find the amount needs without nutritional supplement.
  • The people, who drink beer occasionally, has less risk of suffering a cardiovascular disease.
  • Recent research show that beer can prevent Alzheimer because of its minerals, such as the silicon.

What happens if we join yoga and beer?

Beer and Yoga seem incompatible, but we can join them to get double benefits. We already know some of the properties of yoga and beer. So if we join them, we will take advantage of both at the same time.

Who can practice beer yoga?

This original sport is recommended to everyone, who want to try it, of course. But it has to be older than 18 because beer is an alcoholic drink.

It is ideal for people, who are used to practice it, but they would like to try this different version.

Even if you have not practiced yoga before, it is a great opportunity to learn the basic yoga postures.

Anyway, you can do the sun salutation with a beer bottle in your hands.So at the same time you can enjoy this sport and your favorite drink to have an amazing experience.

Where can you practice beer yoga?

You can practice beer yoga everywhere like the traditional yoga. For example you can practice it outdoor (at the beach, countryside…) or f you prefer you can also practice it indoor (gym, room…). So where you want.

The thing is if you are already independent yogi or if you prefer practice yoga in a group with a teacher.

So where can you find beer yoga lessons?

Beer yoga was born in Germany, in  Berlin. They still practice it every month in the brewery Neulich.

But it has spread throughout the world. However there aren’t many options to find beer yoga lessons:

  • You can also try this version of yoga in Spain. Last year, the beer company Moritz offered it for the first time in its factory of Barcelona. It was a huge success!
  • Mexico City has 2 places where you can practice it. One of them is a bar The Beer Box Polanco and the other is the bar Catfecito, where cats are the protagonists.

Beer Spa Spain still doesn’t offer this sport discipline in any of its wellness center in Alicante or Granada. The philosophy of Beer Yoga is similar to our: to take care body and mind with beer. So who knows, maybe it could be one of our services soon!

In conclusion, Beer yoga is a great combination if you are a yoga fan, as well as a beer lover. It is a different way of practicing this sport. This version of yoga is funny but it isn’t any joke because it maintains its philosophy and exercises.
